Thoughts on Rangers pitching?

I was reading a list of the Rangers top 20 pitching prospects from Jamey Newberg and was curious if anyone else has seen any of the players he highlighted.  CJ Wilson in particular interests me.  He looked terrible when he was up with Texas last season but his minor league numbers were decent last season with a high K/9 ratio.

So...basically has anyone else seen CJ Wilson pitch?  Any thoughts on his stuff, chances of being a #2 SP as mentioned in the article or do you think Texas will screw the pooch on another pitching prospect?

Thanks in advance...and hope this is OKAY as a post...oh wait, should I draft Wilson in the 50th or wait til the 51st round to pick him up for my 85 round 25 category fantasy league consisting of 1 team.

Don't know
Its hard to square the idea that he could be a #2 starter with what we saw on the field.  As an starting pitcher he absolutely stunk, as a reliever he had long stretches in which he was quite effective.  On the other hand he was coming back from 2004 Tommy John surgery so I would want to keep an open mind based on what we see this spring.

Mike is actually the author of the pitcher rankings piece you're talking about.  You can read it at http://www.dickiethon.com/eczajka/previews06pg2.htm#C.J.%20Wilson

his breaking pitch
from the MLB.tv...  his fastball is heavy, but my question is his breaking pitch seems not so effective?

As a Rangers fan
what do you think of their ML moves this offseason.

They always seem to be a team that is on the cusp of something big...but never quite get there.

Locking up Tex (whose name fits beautifully) for 2 more years is huge. It seems like a lot of people don't give him the due that he deserves.

But...
They never seem to address their most glaring problem -- Pitching. Every year they put up great offensive numbers and lose because of pitching (think Kenny Rogers as your stud). I really don't think Milwood is the answer. I think he'd be a fine #2 or 3, but they still need an Ace.

what about
the Chris Young trade to the Padres for Adam Eaton? Did the Rangers think that highly of Eaton? I agree that they still need an Ace.

seems like an even trade
at least among the pitchers. Not sure the Rangers improved there. But I'm thinking Young will really benefit from pitching outside of George W. Bush Memorial Stadium.

let me get this straight..
the stadium is NAMED after the worthless, drunken derelict whose ONLY dime he EVER "earned" was the money from the stadium ITSELF, and RIGHT AFTER the drunken skunk managed to rape the taxpayers, ran off into the night to find a rat hole to enjoy his bottle of booze...

and WHILE he's still living?

daAAMMMED

so that explains it..

why the pitchers get bombed

terrible trade for the Rangers
Eaton is older, more expensive and worse the Chris Young.
He may well go Milton on the Rangers. What was the thinking

"Let's go get a pitcher who has had a HR problem and a mediocre ERA pitching in Petco and see whether Arlington fixes the problem. Yeah that's the ticket... getting pitchers who are used to giving up lots of HRs."

And they had to throw in a useful prospect for a dubious reliever to boot.

Tex
is a monster, and the best part is that he is getting better each year, especially from the left side of the plate.  He should post even better numbers this year, barring injury of course.

Tex...
like most of the Rangers lineup should learn how to hit outside of that park.

Without that ballpark that lineup would look sooo bad...
