Missing the boat...
I may be way off the mark here, but I think I would strongly consider Chad Gaudin over some of these guys.  Miguel Montero would be one of the first guys I'd consider not keeping.

Montero destroyed High A-ball this year.  But... he was 23, and it was the Cali league.  And he struggled during his 108 AB at AA.  From what I can tell, his best position is "hitter", although he's listed as a catcher.

Obviously, Gaudin's stock has dropped, but let's look at some things he has going for him still: a) he's with the A's organization, and they have a history of having pitchers develop to potential.  b) He was able to throw throw 40 effective MLB innings at age 20, even if that was now 3 years in the past.  c) His minor-league totals, while not Peavian, are 2.83 ERA, 7.88 H9, 0.58 HR9, 2.48 W9, and 7.86 K9 - with half his 400 IP coming at AAA (and he was only 22 in 2005).

When I see a player like this, I tend to think that there's some real talent that requires restored confidence.  He may not be a 9.0 K9 guy, but I could see him putting up Joe Blanton-esque seasons if he gets his head straight.

Maybe I'm biased, but I still think I'd take him over a guy a year older who's highest success level is A-ball.

thanks
Thanks for all your opinions.

I'll think I'm going with this bunch:
Elijah Dukes
Javier Herrera
Wes Bankston
Elvis Andrus
Nick Adenhart
With the 6th being contemplated between Miller, Tiffany, and Gaudin (so if you wanted to voice your opinion on these three that would be appreciated).

I think you're right about Montero. He was old for the Cal and Lancaster's one of the biggest, if not the biggest hitter and home-run friendly parks. And suposedly his defense isn't all that great and his walk rate was fairly low for a .350 hitter.

The reason why I wouldn't keep Denker is because it's sounds like his defense is pretty awful.

I do like Gaudin and it's too bad the Rays rushed him after that perfect game or so in the CAL. He did have a nice year in AAA though.

Tiffany I think is underrated and being a Rays fan, that's a plus for him.

Greg Miller still has the potential to be an ace, but I don't know the chances he'll be able to avoid more arm and shoulder injuries.

My rotation is Beckett, Carlos Zambrano, Felix Hernandez, Cliff Lee, Kyle Davies.
