Brad Lidge Retro
would be interesting. Interesting numbers in college and the minors.

Brandon McCarthy Crystal Ball
That would be interesting, especially the way he has pitched recently.

how about
can we get some prospect tidbits for Brett Harper on the Mets? The guy came out of no where and tore it up at single A on the Mets and then double A. Has he been in many minor league organizations because he isn't that young

Jonathan Papelbon Crystal Ball
Please I would be very interested in this as he has become so key to the Red Sox stretch run.

How about
a Crystal Ball on Huston Street, Rich Harden, Joe Blanton, Danny Haren or Dan Johnson?  Maybe a prospect retro on "The Big Three" of Hudson/Mulder/Zito or Danny Haren?

How about a feature on pitching prospects traded by the Braves?  Marquis, Moss, Capellan, Meyer, Schmidt, etc.  Why, with the exception of Schmidt, have the Braves been so successful at picking the right guy to deal at the right time?  It's kind of uncanny they hit on right guys in what seems like every move.

To be fair
The jury is still out on Meyer and Capellan, and Jason Marquis has been pretty decent in Stl.

That said, we can bring up Jung Bong, Adam Wainwright and Bubba Nelson as guys who really just seem to deteriorate away from the Atlanta system.

Maybe I came off wrong.
I'm not calling any of those guys busts. Take Meyer for example, I believe he'll be a solid #3 starter for my A's by 2007 at the latest.  But, the Braves deal Capellan and Meyer, and keep Davies, who I would say has had more success so far.  That's more what I'm getting at.  I forgot about Wainwright, and while Marquis has been decent, I always thought there was "more" to him by most accounts.

Good point about Davies
There might be something to that - are the Braves just really good at keeping the prospects that make it?  While people would stop dealing with them if they were witholding injuries, one does have to wonder if the Braves might hype guys in their farm system - i.e. label one guy a stud prospect at AA while keeping the guy they really like on the downlow.

Marquis
Well, J.D. Drew was huge in keeping Atlanta's division title streak alive. Since Marquis is good but not top of the rotation good... I think the Braves did very well in that trade.

Only fault might be that they miscalculated in not offering Drew arbitration to get the draft pick compensation. I know Maddux burned them with that recently, but being in the prime of his career Drew was going to go somewhere for multi-year $$$.

Prospect Retro
As a bit of a follow up to the Abernathy retro, how about one for Ron Belliard?  For some reason, I feel they're quite similar.  Can't quite figure out why though.

Crystal Ball
Joel Guzman, BJ Upton, Carl Crawford (I really want to see Crawford).  Maybe even a Crawford Prospect Retro

comparison
How about Alex Gordon and Ian Stewart
to
Miguel Cabrera and David Wright

by bobcat on Sep 30, 2005 4:10 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

How about something on David Wright
100 RBIs in his first full season is nothing to scoff at.  The left side of the Mets IF is going to be fun to watch

Seconded
I'd love to see a David Wright crystal ball.  Considering with a bat, he looks to be almost Rolen's equal already.  Defense still needs a little work, but a lot of it's there already...

Crystal Ball
On the Jacksonville Suns if they were to - as a team - replace the actual Dodgers next season.  Would they win the NL Worst?  (For the purposes of this exercise, I still consider Delwyn Young, Jon Broxton, and Edwin Jackson as part of the Suns...I think every advantage needs to be taken.)

seriously
A Crystal Ball on Edwin Jackson.  I'm not sure if there is a more confusing prospect out there.

Jose Reyes
I remember we did a community projection on him, but not sure if there was an update on how close the projections were.

Prospect Retro
I love the 'gamers', so retros on Rusty Greer and Will Clark would be great.
Blue Jays - '92, '93

Prospect Retro
Another guy I have been thinking about for a while is Dewon Brazelton.  Did he fail the D-Rays or did they fail him by messing with his mechanics?
