Felix Pie?

Been searching for some updates on him for quite some time, can't seem to grasp anything concrete.  Is this ankle injury very serious?  Is he shut down?

I ask because I see Matt Murton going nuts in Chicago right now (albeit a VERY small sample size) and was wondering if he was still in their plans this year?

I may be answering my own question however, because I keep forgetting Dusty doesn't like to play rookies - especially ones with upside.  :)

No idea about Pie
Although I think it's very likely that he would be getting the playing time that Murton has been getting.

Not that Murton isn't justifying his opportunity. He's got an excellent approach at the plate.

not ready yet
he is Corey Patterson--a free swinger.  He needs a full year of AAA to hone his plate discipline and base stealing.  The bonus is he's a stellar defensive player.

Pie Update
The Cubs have been saying Pie is a week away for nearly a month now.  I believe Pie is on the horizon of coming back, but his debut in the Majors most likely will not be till September now after he missed a month of action.

more info
Pie (pronounced "Pee-yay") is still recovering from a bone bruise on his foot according to the Cubs (cubs.mlb.com) and is "at least a week away"... While no one has stated it directly, it sounds like he might have had a slight fracture and if so he would be on a 6-8 week time table, and so far it's around week 5 or so...

I have a feeling he'll only be a September call-up now that they traded for Gerut... I think Dusty likes Hairston in the OF

Pie
Pie absolutely needs a full year in AAA. His plate discipline is poor. However, it is not accurate to compare him to Korey Patterson. Generally, hitters improve their plate discipline with service times no matter how bad it was when they first burst into the league. Korey actually stagnated. That is the exception, not the rule. Korey should have MUCH better plate discipline than he has shown. A lot of that is moving him from the leadoff spot to the 7th spot to the leadoff spot over and over again.
