A's
I got a feeling on Brian Matusz.

Red Sox got great value on Lowrie, can totally see him in fenway in two years. WOw, Sox have a nice little draft.

Any explanation why Bryan Morris is still there?
I have not seen reports of outrageous bonus demands and I believe his college choice is a CC so it provides flexibility

by ohad on Jun 7, 2005 2:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Wow
Italiano seems like the antithesis to Moneyball

by mtk52983 on Jun 7, 2005 2:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

re
Italiano is a Moneyball pick.  His talent is well above this position.  Exploiting the injury market, maybe that's the next big thing.

I think Oakland noticed what I noticed, this draft is much deeper in high school talent than it is in college talent.
Julian de Lavalle

by jdelavalle on Jun 7, 2005 2:38 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I guess
MLB teams agree with me:  College pitchign was few and far between. Even the A's (like me) took two  HS pitchers so far.

slowey
fits wth the Twins philosphy...13 walks in 136 IP.

by murraygd13 on Jun 7, 2005 2:44 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

what about..
Bryan Morris? The only reason I can think of him dropping is due to him wanting to play 1 year for his father. But even then they could sign him later as a draft and follow. He was one of the better prep pitchers with a great curve.

by hybrid on Jun 7, 2005 2:45 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

hybrid
I agree.  I am hoping he falls to a team like the Mets who lack the 2nd and 3rd Round picks so they could work out a deal

by mtk52983 on Jun 7, 2005 2:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah...
I was hoping the Rays could snap him up, but evidently our baseball people are to smart for that ....

by hybrid on Jun 7, 2005 2:48 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

so who takes Danks?
and try to lure him away from college w/ the big bucks

by SoCalSoxFan on Jun 7, 2005 2:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

re
The Astros and Rangers are the only two who should think about taking Danks.  I guess the Yankees too, if they want to give him a megabonus.
