Stauffer: The Newest Padre

Tim Stauffer just got the call up.  He will start on Wednesday.  I remember watching him against Nebraska at the Super Regional back in  '02.  I'm a big Stauffer fan, so I'm interested how others think he will fare in his callup/season/career.  I think he's going to slide in nicely right behind Jake Peavy and Brian Lawrence and be a solid #2-3 guy.  He's still only 22 and has shown the ability to bounce back and pitch well a number of times.  Season stats so far:

Portland (AAA) - 39 IP, 2.33 ERA, 34H, 31/8 K/BB, 1 HRA

Good luck Tim!I remember watching him against Nebraska at the Super Regional back in  '02.

Stauffer
I hope he ends up being better than Lawrence. I don't think much of that guy. Too hittable. Petco is masking his ineffectiveness. He let LHB hit over .300 off him last year... that is horrendous.
Got my nats tickets. Lousy Seats: opening night(D'backs), 5/14(Cubs). Good Seats: 6/2(Braves), 6/9(A's), 7/5(Mets)

I hope Stauffer finds success.  I have two autographs of his.

Stauffer's Debut
Well as a Giants fan, I hope he bombs.  Didn't he take a big hit on his signing bonus because he was honest with the Padres about a sore shoulder?  I guess he deserves to do well.

yep
He has a weak shoulder that was found in an examination that the Pads would have never known about. So that was a major "good guy" award for him in regards to the org. and most fans.

But talent wise, he's really a good 3/4 guy and not a front-line starter. He's more like a Steve Traschel and will give you the innings and grit that you like to have on the team -- but he may never be to an all-star game.

Stauffer
I am a big Stauffer fan.  I have seen him pitch many many times, as we were in the same class at the University of Richmond.  I think he can be a successful starter in the bigs.

Win #1
Way to go, Tim!  Rough 1st inning, but he survived for his 1st ML victory.  A win is a win, and they can't all be pretty.  Plus he legged out an infield single.
