Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Adam Miller: Talented enough to take anyway?

What if you have a bunch of picks in your upcoming keeper league ML draft, and you were really high on Miller before his injury.  Do you still take him knowing that you can keep a guy on your ML roster as long as you want?  Or will his injuries derail his early career enough to not make it worth bothering?

Star-divide

I have enough picks that I can use one for Miller and not miss it.  He would be a 3rd or 5th rounder for me, and thus $5 salary whenever he comes up, and at that price for his first 3 years (counting year one as the year in which he crosses his 50th career IP).  So given his type of injury, coupled with his talent level, do you think he would be worth taking a chance on?

Stay with clean arms. Let Miller be somebody else's headache.

Agree
The chances a pitcher ever makes it, let alone enjoys great success, after he starts having injury problems drastically decreases.  I don't think Miller is quite in that class yet, but he on the edge of cliff looking down.

elbows
It's an elbow injury, not a shoulder injury.  The recovery rate for elbow problems is pretty high these days.

Miller
I would take him. He is very young and he is only out for 6 weeks so in the long term it may actually reduce wear&tear. Even TJ surgery isn't so bad nowadays.

But if the problem is a result of high torque on a curveball or something like that (like Prior) then I would be careful.

I don't think this is the case with Adam. From what I heard he was trying to impress the brass and overthrew causing the strain. Just a dumb mistake.
