Red Sox get their revenge!
The Yankees may have taken Damon from the Sox, but the Sox struck back by stealing Flaherty from New York!
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2269236

Seriously, I think the Sox come out ahead on this one. On arm-strength alone Flaherty puts Damon to shame! End of discussion!

I hardly think...
that being said, I don't think the Sox will miss Damon too much...

You mean if...
While I was sad to see Damon leave, I do agree that the Yankees overpaid to get him, and I'm glad the Sox didn't try to match. That said, I hardly blame New York for using their money advantage. Boston certainly isn't shy about doing the same.

As a life-long Mariner fan...
Of course, we screamed email after email to the front office and they still signed Jurassic Carl! :(

He cannot be Jurassic Carl
He said in an interview
"Adam & Eve were the first things on earth, so dinosaurs never existed."
Good thing he plays baseball and is not a doctor, I would be teffified if an idiot like him was my Doc.

a new favorite player!
I like his comments about Adam and Eve... well, at least acknowledging them publicly...

Maybe
Kelly plus Arroyo for Reed?
Youkilis plus Clement for Glaus (to play 1B)
Frees up dollars to sign Kevin Millwood.
Try Cora / Graffanino / Pedroia at SS.

Perhaps Not
Oh, yes, certainly, the Sox need more aging injury-prone, low-average power hitters on the right side of the defensive spectrum.
Is there some reason that I'm not familiar with to assume that a Youkilis/Petagaine combo at 1b next year will suck sufficently to warrent giving up a very useful starting pitcher and Youkilis himself for Glaus?

you have got to be kidding me.....
Signing Flaherty as revenge for Damon and the Red Sox come out ahead?
Tongue, meet cheek.
Oh, and by the way, those news stories in The Onion are fake too.
As for the actual signing, it is a non-guaranteed contract. They can cut him in spring training and not lose a thing. Assuming Shoppach isn't traded, the team will head to spring training with Shoppach, Huckaby, and Flaherty hashing it out for the backup position.

LMAO
OMG, so funny. I don't have a clue how so many in this thread didn't get the sarcasm. Must be the blind Yankee/BoSox rage.

wait a sec...
Face it - you went on a smug rant based on a posting made in a tongue-in-cheek manner. If you want to say that the fact previous posters also bought it mitigates things, that is fine. But don't say it proves that i'm the stupid one. My bout of ISD is in remission.

How did you know??????
Oh, and for the sarcastic impaired, the above was written in jest. In no way do i actually dread the "i'm rubber you're glue" argument. In fact, i find it rather humorous.
