Up and Coming Managers
What minor league managers are up and coming? Which of those should have the first shot at braking the recycled old manager cycle this year?
My personal favorite is still a few years away but keep an eye on Tim Bogar in the Houston system. He won at the Appy League in 04 and finished second in both halves of the SAL in 05 with almost a completely new team in the 2nd half.

Future Managers
Ron Washington, 3B coach for the A's is under consideration for the A's and Dodgers openings.
Jerry Royster has been paying his dues in the Dodger organization. I think he is getting an interview with DePo for the Dodger opening.
Ron Wotus has been the bench coach for both Dusty Baker and Felipe Alou in SF. Prior to that, he was a very successful manager in the Giants minor leagues.
Lenn Sakata has had some success in the Giants minor league system. He managed San Jose to the Cal League title this year despite having players who weren't high on most prospect lists.
Trevor Wilson and Bob Stanley have received some notice for excellent coaching of Giants minor league pitchers and should be considered for major league pitching coach openings in the future.
Wotus
Torey Lovullo was AA Akron's manager and was BA's AA manager of the year

He's a former catcher which seems in vouge.

Howard Johnson, Long-time ML'er and has shot through the Mets system as a great hitting coach and helped David Wright surge to superstardom.

Joe Girardi
just curious
i know wash is a minority, and i'm guessing lenn sakata too (at least, he's got a japanese-sounding name). wash definitely deserves to manage somewhere, and i'm hoping he gets the chance. it probably won't be with the A's--i'm sure they'll at least consider him for the position, but they seem to be leaning towards geren.
The Tigers
Although he isn't a minor league manager and probably doesn't fit into the spirit of this thread, Jose Oquendo has been rumored to have the inside track to the St. Louis Cardinal job once Tony LaRussa decided to hang it up.
Within the M's system...
There's also Dave Brundage, who I like quite a bit. He was BA's Manager of the Year in 2003, when he had quite a bit of talent on the San Antonio squad, and has been the Texas League Manager of the Year a few years running. More unconventional, but knows his scouting reports and will harp on any weaknesses he can find. I'd take him over Rohn, not by a lot mind you, but I loved listening to his games over the online radio feed. Probably coaches the Tacoma Rainiers next year.
Both have proven themselves capable winners, even considering the talent being drained off them from time to time.
